The surgeons at Crestwood Medical Center specialize in weight-loss surgery and have cumulatively performed more than 3,000 procedures. Their focus is helping patients become healthy through lifestyle changes, with surgery as the first step toward a new life.
The goal for patients is not only weight loss, but also reducing or eliminating health problems associated with obesity. These include chronic conditions such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea and lipid disorders.
All surgeons also specialize in minimally invasive — also called laparoscopic — procedures, which typically result in less scarring and anesthesia as well as a faster recovery (compared to traditional surgery). More than 98% of their patients are discharged either the same day as surgery or with one overnight stay in the hospital. Most are able to return to work within one or two weeks of their surgeries.
The following bariatric procedures are performed:
- Adjustable gastric banding
- Sleeve gastrectomy
- Gastric bypass
- Revision and conversion surgeries
