Patients & Visitors
Current Visitor Guidelines
By order of the Governor of the State of Alabama and the State Health Officer, all hospitals must limit visitors to one support person.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this time.
Support Person/Caregiver Guidelines
Our first priority at Crestwood Medical Center is always the health and safety of our patients, their families and our staff. We understand that the current environment has created unexpected challenges for everyone. While we are still currently limiting visitors to our facility, we are now allowing a support person or caregiver for each patient.
We appreciate the community's patience and cooperation as we seek to deliver safe, quality care to patients and their loved ones. In order to do so, there are guidelines for support persons/caregivers:
- All support persons/caregivers must be 18 years of age and older unless an exceptional circumstance exists.
- All support persons/caregivers will be screened for fever/temperature and COVID19 exposure history.
- Anyone exhibiting symptoms of illness cannot be allowed in our facility (unless they are the patient).
- All support persons/caregivers must wear a mask or appropriate face covering at all times, must observe social distancing, and must sanitize their hands frequently. If the support person is unable or unwilling to wear a mask, he/she may not be allowed to participate as a support person/caregiver.
- Caregiver/support person may obtain meals from Crestwood’s Café; however, he/she should minimize movement outside of the patient’s room.
Password Protection
Upon admission, a pass code will be established so that communication can take place between the hospital staff and family members. This pass code is used for identification during the hospitalization. Only the designated contact person may call for an update.
Generally, only one (1) support person is allowed, unless patient is in a restricted area.
Supporting an Adult Patient
A point of contact (family member or caregiver age 18 and over) and a support plan will be established upon admission. The point of contact will be communicated with on a daily basis.
Surgery Patients
Adult surgery patients who stay overnight may have one (1) support person in their room, unless patient is in a restricted area.
Pediatric surgery patients may be accompanied by one parent prior to surgery. One (1) parent may stay with the pediatric patient overnight.
End-of-life care
One to two persons are allowed to support the patient during end-of-life care. If supporting a COVID-19 patient, thorough education on risk and personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
Supporting a Patient in Mother-Baby, Labor & Delivery, Antepartum and NICU
- 1 support person for the mother.
- NICU – The mother and one (1) support person are allowed.
***These guidelines are subject to change without notice based on the needs of Crestwood Medical Center and/or our community.
