Community Gets First Look at Freestanding Emergency Department in Harvest

Facility will open to patients mid-June
Those in Harvest and the surrounding communities soon will have closer access to medical care in emergency situations with the opening of Crestwood Medical Center’s Freestanding Emergency Department - Harvest.
Community leaders and first responders were the first to see inside the newly built facility yesterday during an open house and ribbon cutting.
“Minutes matter in an emergency, and we recognized this portion of Northern Alabama was underserved,” said Crestwood Medical Center CEO Matthew Banks. “We’re committed to helping people get well by providing quality, convenient healthcare, and it’s an honor to serve our communities.”
The freestanding emergency department, located at 1337 Burwell Road in Harvest, includes 10 private patient rooms, including a specialized trauma room. Supporting and diagnostic services include imaging, lab services, a dual-purpose decontamination and isolation room, and a helipad for helicopter transports.
Staffed with physicians, nurses and other patient care providers specifically trained in emergency care, the emergency department seeks to fill a gap for those in Northwest Madison and Northeast Limestone counties. Those in Southern Middle Tennessee will also benefit from closer emergency services 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Multiple first responder agencies were represented at yesterday’s event, including those in Harvest, Bobo, Tony and Monrovia, in addition to HEMSI. We were also excited to be joined via helicopter by Survival Flight out of Ardmore, TN.
The Harvest FSED will bring about 40 new jobs to the community, including clinical providers and support staff. The facility plans to open to patients in June.
