“The Best Choice for Me”: Lisa Young’s Delivery Experience at Crestwood Maternity Center
6/13/2025
When Lisa Young and her husband, Ken, moved to Huntsville, they were met with the exciting — and slightly overwhelming — news that they were expecting a baby. As a mom of two already, Lisa was no stranger to childbirth. But being in a new city without her previous care team left her feeling anxious.
“I was really scared,” Lisa shared. “Moving here and then finding out you’re pregnant is terrifying. You just left all your doctors and care team behind.”
After touring multiple options in town, Lisa ultimately chose Crestwood Maternity Center for her delivery — a decision she calls “absolutely the best choice.”
What drew her in?
“I was looking for a more comfortable, cozy experience — something less sterile, less hectic,” she said. “I didn’t want to feel like just another number.”
From the moment she arrived, Lisa said the staff made her and her family feel known and cared for. She says the nurses knew the family by name. They communicated clearly during shift changes and responded promptly to every need.
“I never had to ask twice for anything,” she said. “We were very comfortable. I just feel like they genuinely cared for us and Romeo.”
Lisa also praised the round-the-clock attention and the warm, family-centered approach of the maternity team. “They weren’t just taking care of me — they were checking on my husband, too. The nursery nurses made sure Romeo was doing well. It was truly a whole-family experience.”
As a third-time mom, Lisa especially appreciated the support she received from the hospital’s lactation consultant. With past experiences that lacked proper breastfeeding guidance, she found the knowledgeable, one-on-one support empowering.
“She stayed in our room and taught me what to do. She showed me what to do,” Lisa said. “It made a huge difference.”
Lisa also noted the value of having options — like keeping baby in the room for bonding, or briefly using the nursery for rest — and feeling fully comfortable either way.
Ultimately, her decision came down to the quality of care, the atmosphere, and the people.
“Delivering here was the absolute best choice for me because of the care I received. Everyone was so warm and so kind. I felt safe. And when I had complications after delivery, the nurses acted quickly. They were amazing.”
To moms new to the area, Lisa offered this advice: “Definitely do your research, but if you choose Crestwood Maternity Center — my experience was amazing. I would highly recommend it.”
