Strike of Success: Crestwood Housekeeper Shines at Special Olympics
6/4/2025
Huntsville, AL — James Irwin has been a dedicated member of the environmental services team at Crestwood Medical Center for six years, known for his dependability, positive attitude and infectious smile. Outside the hospital walls, James has another passion — bowling. At this year’s Special Olympics tournament, held in May at Troy University, that passion paid off. James took home first place in bowling, a victory that’s been nearly three decades in the making.
“I’ve been bowling since 1998,” Irwin shared proudly. “It just makes me happy. I love being on a team”
According to James, being part of the Special Olympics is more than just a competition — it’s a community. Irwin is part of a local bowling team that practices every Sunday. It’s a commitment that has strengthened the team’s bond and sharpened their skills.
“At the Special Olympics, I made several strikes and my team was cheering me on,” he said with a smile.
From keeping Crestwood clean to knocking down strikes, James is proof that hard work and heart go a long way.
