Crestwood to Offer Lower-Cost Heart Screenings in February Through MDsave Partnership

Partnership helps patients access affordable, life-saving heart disease screenings during American Heart Month.
[Huntsville, Alabama] — Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women each year but many people show no symptoms. To increase access to crucial screenings that can detect heart disease and provide patients with the time to improve their health outcomes, Crestwood Medical Center has partnered with online healthcare marketplace MDsave and will be offering $75 cardiac CT calcium scorings during the month of February.
A cardiac CT calcium scoring is a common heart screening that utilizes a noninvasive CT scan to measure your risk for coronary artery disease. But at the high national average price of $319, cardiac CT calcium scorings are not easily accessible across the United States, especially for uninsured individuals or those on insurance plans that don’t cover preventive care.
“Much like a mammogram can detect the early signs of breast cancer, the cardiac CT calcium scoring can identify early signs of heart disease — even when a patient exhibits no symptoms, ” said Kris Goodwin, Crestwood chief nursing officer. “It’s why early detection really is the best protection. These screenings are such an important part of heart disease prevention and our partnership with MDsave helps us make them available to more patients in our community.”
In order to have a cardiac CT calcium scoring test, a physician order is required. To purchase at the promotional price, visit www.mdsave.com. Add the procedure to your cart and checkout — just like shopping online. After paying for a screening, patients will receive a voucher for their procedure to present when arriving for an appointment. All related fees are included in the $75 price, so patients won’t face surprise bills later on. Heart screenings purchased during the February promotion remain valid for six months after the date of purchase (except for those purchased via CareCredit, which expire after 30 days) and can be scheduled for any date within the next six months.
