CEO and CFO Receive Excellence in Leadership Awards

Huntsville, AL – CEO Pam Hudson, MD and CFO Sherry Jones of Crestwood Medical Center have been honored with Excellence in Leadership Awards by Community Health Systems, one of the nation’s leading operators of general acute-care hospitals. The organization’s affiliates include Crestwood and 135 other hospitals in 29 states. The Excellence in Leadership Award recognizes hospital leaders who have demonstrated an ongoing commitment to quality healthcare and operational excellence. Dr. Hudson was also presented with the Excellence in Leadership Award in 2009 as well as the Outstanding Achievement Award in 2010.
A Board Certified Family Practitioner, Dr. Hudson has served as Chief Executive Officer of Crestwood Medical Center since 2007. She was the first physician named as CEO of a hospital in North Alabama. In her 26 years at Crestwood Medical Center, she has served in many other capacities including Chief Operating Officer, Chief Medical Officer and Chief of Emergency Medicine. In addition to her work at Crestwood, Dr. Hudson serves on the Board of Directors for the following organizations: Birmingham Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, Chamber of Commerce of Huntsville/Madison County, ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) Alabama Chapter, and John Stallworth Scholarship Foundation, and is a past president of the National Children’s Advocacy Center. Other memberships include Business Council of Alabama, Leadership Alabama, Leadership Huntsville Madison County, Women’s Economic Development Council and Huntsville Community Chorus.
Hudson says this success would not be possible without the support of the hospital’s Board of Trustees, medical staff and dedicated employees. “This award is a reflection of the efforts of our entire team, whose members all share a commitment to provide our community with an option for high quality medical care and service excellence.”
Sherry Jones, CPA, has served as Crestwood’s CFO since 2011, and as ACFO for the previous 1.5 years. Prior to Crestwood, Sherry spent 11 years in the health care industry in CFO roles for Parkway Medical Center and Hartselle Medical Center. She is a graduate of Leadership Decatur-Morgan County Class of 2005-2006, and is a current member of Leadership Huntsville/Madison County Class 27.
Jones credits the leadership and hard work of her team members throughout the hospital for making the accomplishment possible. “In order to continue to make investments in the latest medical technology and provide very personalized care with a low nurse to patient ratio, our team has to to create and carry out very strategic financial and operational plans, and every member of the team contributes to this. They understand what it takes to be successful, in order to continue to meet the needs of our community.”
Crestwood Medical Center is directly or indirectly owned by a partnership that proudly includes physician owners, including certain members of the hospital’s medical staff.
