Crestwood Medical Center is committed to improving the health of our community. We know that smoking is a health hazard. Therefore, to promote good health and to create a healthy environment for employees, patients and visitors, Crestwood Medical Center’s Campus will be designated Smoke and Tobacco Free effective March 1, 2017.
Smoking-related diseases account for more than 7,500 deaths each year in Alabama and costs the state nearly $5.6 billion in medical care costs and productivity losses, according to the 2014 Surgeon General's Report on smoking and its health consequences. Studies also show that about 70 percent of all smokers want to quit. However, we recognize that giving up smoking is difficult and are committed to offering support. To assist those who would like help to quit smoking, Crestwood Medical Center is partnering with Alabama Department of Public Health to offer “Call it Quits”, a free resource class open to the community.
