Screening & Diagnostic Evaluations

Your best protection against breast cancer is early detection. Breast Care at Crestwood Women’s Center offers the following:

  • Digital Screening Mammogram is an examination of the breast that uses a computer, rather than X-Ray film, to record images of the breast. This exam is done in order to detect unsuspected breast cancer at an early state in asymptomatic, or symptom free, women.
  • Digital Diagnostic Mammograms, also known as problem solving mammography, evaluates abnormal physical findings in the breast or abnormal findings seen on a screening mammogram.
  • Computer Aided Detection (CAD) supplements the review and interpretation of a mammogram by the radiologist.
  • Breast MRI is a supplemental tool used for detecting and staging breast cancer and other breast abnormalities. Breast MRI is not a replacement for mammography or breast ultrasound. This diagnostic procedure is performed in the Crestwood Imaging & Diagnostics Center located at 700 Airport Road.
  • Breast Ultrasound, also known as sonography or ultrasonography, is frequently used to evaluate breast abnormalities that are found with screening or diagnostic mammography.
  • Ductogram is a procedure performed to help identify the breast duct that may be the source of nipple discharge.
  • Biopsy is a procedure that involves the removal of an entire abnormality or a sampling of an abnormality for microscopic examination.
  • Bone Densitometry is a noninvasive procedure used to measure bone mass and helps to diagnose osteoporosis.
