Emergency Services

Treating Emergencies. Easing Fears.

At Crestwood, we know medical emergencies are stressful. That’s why we’re helping to change the E.R. experience. By treating your pain, easing your fears, and keeping you informed you’re treated like a person, not just a condition.

Our Emergency Team is dedicated to working and collaborating together to create clinical excellence and exceptional customer service. In an effort to continue to provide service you can count on we have implemented a new ½ hour rounding schedule. During these rounds our staff will visit each room about every half hour.

With this new approach for proactive care we will focus on three objectives for patient care during these rounds. While assessing the patient each round our staff will check pain, assure that patient possessions are near and keep the patient informed by explaining the duration of a visit. At Crestwood we take your care personally and hope that in the event of a medical emergency you will Choose Crestwood because we care.

Crestwood Medical Center's Emergency Services Department consists of 19 treatment rooms; each with state-of-the-art medical equipment including cardiac monitors and a computer system to track patients' vital signs. In a medical emergency, it is vital that patients receive fast, effective treatment from specially trained doctors, nurses and paramedics. That’s why Crestwood Medical Center staffs its Level III Emergency Room (ER) with five board-certified emergency medicine physicians rigorously trained to handle acute and life-threatening conditions. These physicians are supported by a full staff of nurses and paramedics accredited and experienced in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), pediatrics and trauma. In addition, full-service laboratory and radiology services are available 24-hours a day.

Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, our Emergency Room’s convenient location, just off Airport Road, is designed to provide fast and easy access. Our advanced facilities include treatment areas equipped for trauma, cardiac distress and general medical emergencies. With more than 465 physicians on staff, specialists including orthopedic surgeons, neurologists, gynecologists, ENTs (ear, nose and throat) and urologists are on call and available within 30 minutes.

Common Questions

Are you staffed by physicians 24 hours a day?

Yes, we have five physicians board-certified in emergency medicine that staff our emergency room around the clock. In addition, we have full-time registered nurses and full-time paramedics.

How long is the usual wait in the emergency room?

Triage and admission time usually takes 15 - 20 minutes, then treatment begins.

Do you treat children?

Yes, we treat children of all ages for a variety of illnesses from minor injuries to acute life-threatening illnesses.

Do you treat heart attacks and strokes?

Yes, we are equipped and trained to handle patients experiencing symptoms of heart attacks and strokes. We stabilize the patient and determine the appropriate course of treatment with the patient’s physician. Learn more about Crestwood Cardiac Care.

What types of emergencies do you not treat?

We treat all emergencies – everything from broken bones, breathing problems and gynecological problems to heart attacks and abdominal pains. However, there are certain services our facility does not provide: open heart surgery, although we do treat patients with heart attacks; complex neurosurgery, meaning we would not see patients experiencing deep, multiple traumas from car accidents or gunshot wounds. Therefore, while our Emergency Room staff is trained to treat these patients, our facilities do not allow us to accommodate their needs. In an emergency, you should go to the closest facility. If you have time to concur with your physician, he or she can better direct you to a facility best suited to meet your specific needs.

What insurance do you accept?

We accept more than 200 insurance policies, including most major insurances.
