ALS Clinic Now Open at Crestwood - In Partnership with ALS Association - Alabama Chapter 

Areas first regional ALS clinic now open at Crestwood in partnership with the ALS Association – Alabama Chapter. The regional ALS clinics provides an evaluation center for patients with Lou Gehrig’s disease or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). People with ALS currently have to travel to Atlanta or St. Louis for these services. The ALS clinic will be open on the third Wednesday of the month from 12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. and 3 – 6 patients may be seen on each clinic day. Dr. Tejanand Mulpur and Dr. Aruna Arora will be providing medical direction and Marcia Obermann, RN,BSN, will be the patient coordinator.

The ALS Clinic provides a multidisciplinary care program in the management of ALS. Continuity of care is important to persons with ALS and requires that health care providers and health plan personnel communicate with the patient on an on going basis regarding anticipated changed in the level of care. Clinical Staff from Crestwood Medical Center including Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Respiratory Therapist, Dietitian, Speech & Language Therapist and Social Worker or Patient Services Coordinator will be present at on each clinic day. Physician specialists including Neurologist, Pulmonologist, Gastroenterologist, ENT and Psychiatrist/Psychologist will also be available to see patients.
