The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that breastfeeding continue for at least 12 months, and thereafter for as long as mother and baby desire. At Crestwood Medical Center, we realize that even with nature’s best intentions, this isn’t always the easiest task for all new mothers. For this reason, we offer caring, experienced breastfeeding support to moms and babies who need a little extra help.
Our International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLC) visit every breast-feeding mom during her stay and are available for free personal consultation after discharge. Our nurses are also trained in lactation and are available to assist with breast-feeding techniques or to answer questions. Our free breast-feeding class is offered monthly and mom’s support person is encouraged to attend, too.
