The Nursing Leadership Group

Nursing Leadership Group representatives

Whether you are a new or a seasoned veteran to the field of nursing, you have chosen a time-honored profession. Nursing at Crestwood Medical Center is considered to be a vital partnership with physicians and administrative members. This partnership is designed to foster support and provide nurses a voice in the care giving process. Nurses are an integral part of this partnership.

The Nursing Leadership Group (NLG), was developed to create this partnership, and at the same time, advance the level of care given to patients. From the beginning, key initiatives of the NLG have been staffing, communication, education, ancillary support and leadership.

Organization and Membership

The NLG is comprised of one representative from each nursing area; as well as representatives of nursing management. These members are full-time or part-time staff with at least six months of employment at Crestwood Medical Center. Standing members include the CEO, CNO, members of the PLG, Nursing PI Coordinator, case managers, and the Hospital Educator. Other disciplines are invited to attend on an ad hoc basis.

Group Objectives

  • The overall goal of the NLG is to assist with the continual improvement of nursing at Crestwood Medical Center, including, but not limited to:
  • The ongoing evaluation of values, culture and potential areas of vulnerability as perceived by officers, management and other nursing staff of Crestwood Medical Center;
  • Establishing a heightened awareness of excellence in nursing and improving staff skills in dealing with new technology and ongoing issues;
  • Enhancing Crestwood Medical Center staff and managers’ appreciation of the value of promoting excellence in the work environment, and guidance on the methods to do so;
  • Establishing an appropriate infrastructure for the support of NLG at Crestwood Medical Center including mechanisms and systems for peer support.
  • Providing an avenue for physicians and nurses to discuss mutual issues, and a means for resolution.
  • Keeping the Crestwood Medical Center local Board of Trustees informed of NLG activities.
  • Standing agenda items of customer satisfaction and physician/nurse relations.

Since its inception, the NLG has served as a link between physicians, administrative members and nurses. It has provided an open forum for nurses to discuss concerns, which are in turn communicated to our Physician Leadership Group (PLG).
